Meet Our Team

Melissa Groot, BHScPT, BPhEd(Hons) – Registered Physiotherapist

Melissa has practiced as a Registered Physiotherapist since 1998 when she graduated from McMaster University with a degree in Physiotherapy.  She had previously completed a degree in Physical Education at the University of Western Ontario in 1996.  Melissa has attended a number of Post-Graduate courses in Orthopaedics and Manual Therapy, Post-Concussion Rehab, Sports Injuries, Acupuncture, Soft Tissue Release, Pilates Rehabilitation Methods and Exercise Prescription.  She completed the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (Orthopaedic Division) Intermediate Certification in Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2003 and is also certified in Pilates and Acupuncture.  Melissa has been a member of the Canadian and Ontario Physiotherapy Associations since 1998.
Prior to opening Black Creek Physiotherapy, Melissa worked at The Woodstock Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Clinic for over ten years.  She has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of sports injuries, motor vehicle accidents, work related injuries, pre and post-surgical conditions, and various other orthopaedic and neurological conditions.


Karen Murphy, BScPT, BSc – Registered Physiotherapist

Karen completed her Bachelors in Physiotherapy at University of Toronto over 25 years ago.  Prior to that she held a Bachelors in Science, Deans List, majoring in Biology and Neuroscience.

Karen has worked in the area of orthopaedics the majority of her career treating a wide variety of ages and injuries, including chronic conditions, sports injuries, motor vehicle accidents and workplace injuries.  Karen has taken extensive post graduate training in manual therapy and has expanded her care to include vestibular rehabilitation, concussion care and, most recently, Connect Therapy which is an approach that evaluates alignment throughout the body and corrections to it that can have the biggest impact on the painful area.

Karen is thrilled to join the Black Creek Physiotherapy team to provide thoughtful care.



Angela Paulen, OCR, Registered Nurse – Administrative Assistant

Anglea Paulen, RN Head Shot Angela has practiced as Registered Nurse since 1998. She has worked at the Stratford General Hospital since 2001 and completed her Nursing degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2003. Angela is a Certified Reflexologist and has previously practiced at Black Creek Physiotherapy. At this time, she assists with Administrative Support from time to time in the clinic.




Helen Kuntze, RMT – Registered Massage Therapist

Helen graduated from The Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy of Cambridge in 2011.

She is experienced in treating a variety of conditions including; arthritis, tendonitis, back pain, sciatica, headaches, repetitive strain injuries, sports injuries and many other conditions related to soft tissue and joint dysfunctions.  Helen enjoys assisting her clients to achieve their health goals!


Alicia Peper, PTA – Physiotherapist Assistant, Administrative Assistant

Alicia graduated from the Occupational and Physiotherapist Assistant program at Mohawk College in 2007.  She worked primarily as a PTA in long-term care before joining the team at Black Creek Physiotherapy in 2014.  Alicia is excited to be a part of the team and to assist clients in reaching their healthcare goals.




Melissa Cronyn, PTA – Physiotherapist Assistant, Personal Trainer

Melissa graduated as a Physiotherapist Assistant in 2016.  She previously graduated with a diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion from Conestoga College.  She is an OFC (Ontario Fitness Council) Gold member and in addition to working as part of our rehabilitation team at Black Creek Physiotherapy she also provides Personal Training in one-on-one sessions.

Melissa works with all fitness levels and has an ability to demonstrate different variations of exercises as required in the case of a pre-existing area of injury, she provides cueing for proper posture and technique with exercise and gives ongoing motivation throughout the session.  Melissa would be happy to help you achieve your health and fitness goals!


Arielle Braby – Receptionist and Administrative Support

Arielle’s role at our clinic is to provide reception and administrative support. She has a strong background in customer service and is happy to be part of the team at Black Creek Physiotherapy!
